You are not understanding what ShawnoftheDay is saying. When the balloon pops the rubber could become lodged in the dogs throat by the flying pieces from the pressure of the balloon popping.
have you seen how fast dogs gulp stuff down? Like he could have stopped it. Also, that isnt the only way. A piece of ruber easily could have came off in its mouth when the balloon was popped. Why take the chance? Ridiculous.
Shawnoftheday – the only way the dog would choke on the balloons is if he tried to eat them and i’m sure if that was the case the owner would have stopped him immediately!
I agree with OriginalMissKitty. It bothers me to see anyone let there dog pop balloons. Really dumb people let there dogs do this. That is dangerous and your stats are not correct.
Thank you for your concern, but a dog is much more likely to die from a car accident, epileptic and epileptic-like seizures, hip dysplasia, signs of heart failure and disc herniation. So, by your logic, you should not ever let your dog ride in the car. It may look cute to let them hang their head out the window, but its very very dangerous. Safety before quality of life, I guess?
In a 1995-2001 study of over 350,000 dogs and causes of death, not a single one died from choking on a balloon in the studied equivalent of 1,098,358 dog years. 43,172 dogs in the study died or were euthanized, with car accidents being the most common single cause of death. Have you ever taken your pet in a ride in a car? If you have, shame on you for exposing it to that kind of risk.
FYI…if a dog…or a human…gets a piece of balloon caught in their throat, it cannot be removed. They will die. Balloons are the most dangerous thing you can have in your house if you have animals or babies.

ok, but why take the chance at all? It isn’t exactly necessary, and it’s not even very funny.
